Fantastic experience: This is a copy of my Yelp Review: My father and I recently completed the 16-hour firearm safety course. I must say that we had an outstanding experience in the course and with International Security Services! Michael, our instructor, was patient, knowledgeable, humorous, and supportive. I appreciated Michael's professionalism, cool demeanor, and extensive knowledge of NYS firearm laws and safety. Our class was small--around 7 students, so Michael was able to give each student the attention that they needed to pass the course and understand the practical gun safety skills. The testing facility on 2625 86th Street was freshly renovated and had a clean, easily accessible bathroom. The chairs were a bit too small for me being a bigger guy, but that's ok and not a big issue, especially for smaller individuals. There are many restaurants nearby, so don't worry about the lack of places to eat! Michael kindly gave us plenty of breaks and always encouraged the class to have an "open discussion" about the topics, which I appreciated. The course syllabus thoroughly included firearm safety, NYS firearm usage laws, and the types of scenarios were one would and would not be able to legally use their licensed weapon. VERY IMPORTANT. Michael showed many videos of industry experts that explained critical firearm usage practices. Bottom line: a firearm is a tool of last resort, not a first one! Major takeaways: de-escalate, avoid, and retreat whenever possible! Don't be a hero, and don't ever use your weapon on an assailant that is walking away from you or a third party and no longer showing a threat! When you THINK you are are defending yourself, you may actual being usuing excessive force and in the wrong! What you believe is self-defense and an appropriate use of a firearm may not be legally defensible as self-defense. Consequently, one must be careful and understand that the response to ANY threat must be equal and proprotionate to that threat. Deadly force by means of a firearm should never or rarely be used. Michael expertly highlighted these key concepts in his lecture on the "force continuum." In terms of cost, the course was $300 dollars and worth every penny! The course had a mixture of novices--individuals that never held or fired a gun-- to advanced users. Therefore, novices should not feel embarrassed if they can't master all of the required skills in one class. Michael will help you; he is VERY patient. With experience and time, novices will become masters of how to safely handle a firearm. The course ended with a simulated, five-shot exercise on a training weapon. No live ammuntion is used for the safety of course participants. Having taken and passed the course, I feel that it is invaluable for gun owners. This course should be mandatory for all licensed gun owners in New York State, not just those who possess concealed carry licenses, but also premise pistol license holders too. Taking the course at International Security Services should be your number one choice. Eduard, the owner is friendly, business oriented, and made the course registration process easy for us. On day one, he bought pizza for the class. Great job, sir! My only critique-- albeit a minor one-- is that International Security Services should have uniform course printouts of key notes and takeaways for students to review. With time, memory tends to weaken, and key concepts may be forgotten. I also wish the other students luck in their careers as security professionals and (hopefully) licensed NYS gun owners. Perhaps in the future, NYS lawmakers or the NYPD should require a refresher course, either to be done online or onsite, after 5 or 10 years. In conclusion, a near flawless training and educational experience for gun owners. Overall, A+. Thank you, Eduard and Michael! You both did an exemplary job!

Fantastic experience: International Security Service one of the best Security guards school in NY. ISS have a very friendly and competent staff. The office has good conditions for interviews and quick preparation of documents. For studying courses there are no hassles or extra fees. Everything is fair and I'm happy. The 8-hour mandatory course is laid out very well. The instructor is a very good person with extensive experience in the security system. Fantastic experience: I spent a lot of time looking for a good Pistol Instructor. I had many phone conversations with many Pistol instructors but no one of them was the one that I was looking for. Suddenly like an enchant I found Michael Kozhar. During our conversation I realize that he was the right instructor that I was looking for. Fantastic experience: I just completed my CCW training, and it was the best experience. Michael and Egor was amazing instructors I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I went in there thinking I knew a lot about gun safety, rules and laws but I left with 100x more knowledge. I feel confident to be able to carry safely after this class. I have already told so many people about the information I was provided. I recommend going to International Security Services, Inc. to anyone looking to learn from someone who actually cares and takes the training very seriously. Leaving that classroom after the two days I felt like I gained a lot more than just 16 hours plus 2 hrs. I feel like I am able to now go to Michael whenever I have any concerns or questions going forward. It is right here in Brooklyn and the price is very good.

Fantastic experience: I cannot overstate how wonderful ISS and specifically Mike Kozhar were to work with in 2023. We hired ISS to oversee crowd control and staff security for our five large-scale (10,000-50,000 person events), urban fundraiser walks. Their staff was on time, attentive, proactive, responsive, respectful, professional and efficient. Mike's attentiveness to detail, ability to change plans on the fly and communication (even when out of the country!) made working with him and ISS the easiest part of my, and my staff's jobs.
