Negative experience: If you are planning on hiring a private investigator, I would advise you NOT to hire Quintana Investigations. I won a judgement in Ada County Small Claims Court. The problem was that I could not locate the defendant for payment. I contacted Mr. Quintana on 06/03/2024. He told me my investigation would cost $600. Further, he said he could get the information I needed in about a week (addresses and bank accounts). At no time did he indicate that this would be an unusual or difficult task. I promptly paid for his services. On 09/23/2024, following several attempts to find out why he had been unsuccessful in getting the needed information, I decided to tell Mr. Quintana to discontinue the effort. I told him I wanted a paid receipt for the $600 I gave him in June (he had not given one to me). I also asked for a short narrative describing the sources and methods he used during the investigation and, finally, a short note on why his techniques had not resulted in garnering the information I paid for. My reasoning for the request was two-fold; I wanted to know what he did, unsuccessfully, so I would not waste my time doing what had been tried, without result. Also, I have been told that out-of-pocket expenses, such as hiring a private investigator to aid in getting my judgement, can be added to the judgement awarded by the Court, but it must be documented for Court approval. That was two weeks ago, and he still has not responded. I understand he has positive reviews from some other people. All I can say is that I had a vastly different experience with him.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was struggling with suicidal ideation and other medical health issues falling under the mental health category. I worked a year to get her into a residential program and when she found out she left our home. Even when expressing to the police that she was high risk of self harm and that she was not running away from home, but instead from medical treatment they treated it like it did not matter. It took me 4 days to get them to help in any manner. During this process I was referred to James and there was no hesitation in the amount of help he was able to offer. He gave me more information in the first five minutes than the police department had during the whole traumatic experience. Not only did he tell me the steps I needed to take, he also truly cared. He had never met my daughter but he immediately related it back to if it was his child. I will refer him over and over and truly believe I would not have gotten my daughter home as quickly as I did without his help!

Negative experience: My wife called about me getting fingerprints done and he said to call back the next day. Called and left a message and never heard back. I undetstand this isn't a priority for a PI but still isn't professional. Ended up getting my prints done at the Idaho State Police at half the price of what he would have charged.
