Negative experience: They have had my drive over a year. Hard to get ahold of them. They don't return calls or messages. Tyler took the drive and $200 non refundable deposit. Turned it over to Jamie who just keeps putting us off. Zero stars would be appropriate. Stay away from this place.

Negative experience: My seagate hard drive crashed in a home computer. Utah Data Recovery had strong online reviews, so I took it there. They explained that it can take some time to find a compatible hard drive to use for donor parts so they can piece together a working drive and read the data. You have to pay some $$ up front for them to even look at it. My understanding was this might take up to a month. I paid the money and was hopeful. Then I waited. And waited. I called them to check status of the job. And waited some more. And called them back. And waited. And called again. And again. It dragged on forever. The times I did reach them on the phone, it seemed like this was always on the back burner or "we're going to try XYZ next." Very little communication coming out of this company. Maybe they are overbooked or something. After several months I finally gave up. I get that some data simply cannot be recovered. If they had completed the investigation in a timely manner and communicated proactively "I'm sorry sir, we tried ABC and your data is just not recoverable," that would have been understandable (if a bit disappointing). But the constant delays and lack of communication is just unprofessional.

Negative experience: I dropped off my hard drive, and they told me it would be 5-7 business days to fix. After a week I called and they hadn't done anything yet. After 2 weeks they wouldn't even pick up the phone. I still don't know where my hard drive is.

Fantastic experience: Oh man. These guys were life savers. I lost everything on my 2019 MacBook by a fluke accident. It wouldn’t power on randomly and I lost everything. I took it to them and they were able to repair it at an honest and reasonable price. Half of what other companies across the US charged me. They also were able to recover a hard drive that was sitting in my drawer for 3 years that had all my childhood memories on there. So you don’t lose any of your data again, I suggest getting astorage solution, consider getting a RAID system. Or backing up everything to the cloud.

Positive experience: They charged me an exorbitant sum of money to recover the content of my raid array, when I picked up the recovered data on a new drive which I provided them they suggested I should leave the raid with them until I could confirm all the date I needed has been recovered, in hindsight allowing them to do this was clearly a mistake since they supposedly had cloned the array to begin with. Within a few weeks I knew I was good so I asked them to return the thousands of dollars of hardware they were holding and they gave me the run around, I tried off and on for years to get my hardware back to no avail, even visiting the physical location they put up a wall of resistance. Don’t give them any hardware you’re not prepared to lose. They did mostly recover my data, all files from one particular camera were corrupt, so I had to resort to using software that could extract the previews from those raw files, which made them still functional for my purposes though not as functional as had they maintained their raw format without corruption.

Fantastic experience: After calling all of Utah for my dead flash drive with valuable company information, I was given a 2 week recovery time with a $1,000 cost, not to mention it all had to be shipped out of state. I was so close to taking this route until I found Utah Data Recovery. I did not mind the 3 hour round trip drive from Salt Lake to Logan (twice, drop off and pick up), and their prices were unbeatable. They were able to explain to me the process, keep me updated, and give me the data on a new flash drive in about 2 days. They are literally life savers! Definitely recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Morgan was amazing at going the extra mile with helping figure out an issue where my wife’s iPhone was about to lose a whole lot of photos and videos that we did not want to lose. I mean he REALLY went the extra mile. I will hands-down come back again for any of his services.

Negative experience: I paid $100 online for a do-it-yourself fix that recovered some information while keeping the hard drive intact. Then I went here to see if they could restore any more, but they retrieved the same information, but they charged $300 AND had to destroy the hard drive to get the information. They said they could look into going deeper to try and get more data but never called me back.

Fantastic experience: I was transferring photos from my phone to my computer when an unfortunate Ctrl+Z removed 800+ images and they were nowhere to be found. After trying to fix it all myself using EaseUS and some other software, some files were recovered, yet all of them were corrupt. I then tried a few different pieces of software to repair the files but had no luck. Keep in mind that these 800+ photos were all of my son who was born 9 months ago - tons of memories. I called during their closed business hours and selected the emergency option where Morgan answered the line. Every question as far as price, procedure, turnaround time, likelihood of recover, etc. were answered extremely well, and without judgment. I felt good enough about our conversation that I drove 1 hour to Logan with both my SD card and my M.2. While I was there, Morgan and Jacoby recovered ALL PHOTOS and more from what I had lost. I had a WD external hard drive that quit reading and I found this company on google and I sent it to them and it was the best decision ever, they were very patient with me since the hard drive had a wedding video and to make things worse the plandemic affected the waiting time to get the parts needed to repair the hard drive and recover the data from it. They recovered all of the data from it and for that I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: My hard drive was broken. I was not able to access any of my data. It had valuable data such as family pics and documents. First, I tried myself to recover the files, then I tried couple of places in the Logan but they were not able to retrieve my data from the drive. When I was connecting it to PC light in it was blinking but I wasn't able to open any folder, it was taking ages. I tried to run chkdsk, it didn't work either. Then I went to Utah Data Recovery. I was asked to pay non-refundable examination fee. But I was nervous if they are not able to recover the data then I would loose the money. They were so confident and positive about getting all of my data, they asked to pay for everything at the end. It was great relief. They explained me the process of recovery and offered great support. I am sure they are the best in the town. I am great about making backups and had just moved all of our photos, documents, and other important files unto a brand new backup drive before wiping my main hard drive for a fresh windows restore when the new drive failed. Morgan and Stacy were very helpful in the recovery of my data and photos, even though it was not top secret, world ending stuff, it was my stuff and very important to my family. They made an honest mistake and have done everything they can to try and remedy it. After hearing about our experience they reached out to my mom and offered a refund and also other resources to try to recover her photos. They also said they were re-training staff on policies to ensure our experience was not repeated with another client. The Refund is great but to also retrain staff shows they truly care about their business and customer experience. Original review: Found these guys through google and after reading some good reviews decided to send off my mom's phone that had gone through an accidental factory reset and she lost all her photos. Paid $100 down and they said they'd look into it. They had the phone for two weeks and sent it back along with a invoice for an additional $300. They said they had recovered 70+ photos out of a possible 500+ photos. Upon review of the USB they sent, I discovered they did not retrieve a single photo. What they had recovered were text messages that contained photos but we were able to recover these on our own and already had all of that before sending the phone in. The photos they did recover were photos taken after the factory reset.

Fantastic experience: These guys were amazing to work with! We had a power surge that caused our file server of 10 years crash that contained everything we needed to function. Our IT guys came in with a Linux reader and still couldn't get anything off of it, so they told us to call Utah Data Recovery. Well worth the call. They restored everything! Fantastic experience: On the referral of a Salt Lake computer repair shop, I sent a laptop hard drive with significant damage to a company in California for data recovery. It was a disaster, involving, among other things, a total lack of communication on their part. A year later, with the company claiming multiple failed attempts at recovery, I asked them to return the hard drive, and on the basis of excellent reviews, decided to take a chance with Utah Data Recovery, if for no other reason than to confirm my data was not recoverable. Within 24 hours, I had been contacted by UDR, who asked me to provide all the information I could on what had happened. They even tried multiple times (not surprisingly unsuccessfully) to contact the California company to try to ascertain what they had done to the drive. Within a couple of days, I received a detailed analysis and prognosis, and less than a week after receiving my drive, UDR had successfully recovered ALL of my data! Cameron and the rest of the in-house team were fantastic -- exceptional communication, extremely professional and courteous, and they managed to recover all my data after significant damage, exacerbated by the clowns in California, and over a year after the initial mishap. Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I took my crashed external hard drive to Utah Data Recovery. I wanted to be able to talk to person who was actually working on my hard drive. From the first phone call to picking up my recovered data I worked with the same person. My hard drive crashed pretty bad but they were able to recover everything on it. Fantastic experience: I came to Utah Data Recovery looking to recover photos from an SD card that my camera damaged. These pictures were of sentimental value and I was worried that they were lost forever. The staff at Utah Data Recovery were very sympathetic to my problem and handled the situation professionally and I never got the feeling that I was being ripped off. Fantastic experience: I just want to thank you so much for recovering my, what was thought to be completely lost, external hard drive. Between all the family videos, pictures, business documents… so many irreplaceable memories and things that were extremely important to me and couldn’t bear to part with, have now been recovered thanks to you. I have now learned my lesson with this in many ways. My hard drive had been fried from a power surge due to a lightning storm, I was not very smart and left it plugged into the wall all the time, which you should never do. Because of that the circuit board that connects everything to the computer for it to read would not work. I tried calling the company I bought it from and there was nothing they could do. They told me it sounded like I was going to need to contact a data recovery company to hopefully save all the data on the drive. Unfortunately I didn’t listen and decided to call a couple of local computer companies to see if they could do anything. (BIG MISTAKE). After taking it to 2 different computer companies (not data recovery) and them messing with my drive (including taking it out of the cage and therefore scratching it, freezing the drive and trying to download data) no one was able to do anything. Little did I know they from them trying to fix it they actually made it worse. At that point I knew my only option was data recovery. I didn’t want to ship it to California because I worried about it getting there and being knocked around and ruined more. So I googled data recovery places in Utah and found Utah Data Recovery located in Logan. I called and talked to Jamie and told him my situation. I was very impressed with them and decided to drive it up to Logan myself. I paid the $95 diagnostic fee for them to look at it to see what the damage was and if it was recoverable. About a week later they called me back and told me how much it would be if it was indeed recoverable, the only bad part was because the circuit board had been scratched (from the first company) and then frozen (from the second company), what would have been actually a fairly simple recovery had I brought it to them initially, was now a very hard and complex recovery that would require a “clean room” process which is extremely expensive. And they weren’t even sure after doing that if it would work. I was devastated and wanted to cry. I wanted and needed that data so badly, but I was so mad at myself and at the other 2 companies because of their stupidity were now costing me triple what I would have had to pay to get this fixed. Usually this type of recovery would take anywhere from 2 days to roughly 2 weeks to recover. From start to finish mine took about 6 weeks. Utah Data Recovery didn’t give up on my drive. They tried EVERYTHING they could and ran into a lot of dead ends that honestly seemed completely hopeless as far as getting my data back. But they finally were able to recover it and I am so incredibly happy and thankful for that! Lessons learned: if you have valuable data that needs to be recovered… take it to an actual data recovery company, like Utah Data Recovery, because otherwise those other places could end up ruining your drive even more because they don’t know what is all involved and how critical and delicate those drives actually are. I’m very lucky to even have my data, because of how badly the other 2 screwed it up and damaged it more. Thank you Utah Data Recovery!

Fantastic experience: I have a custom built computer with three 1TB hard drives raided together in a RAID 5 configuration. I recently upgraded to the "free" Windows 10 version that they pushed out. Worst mistake of my computing life! It corrupted my filing system and I lost everything. I couldn't even boot to Windows anymore. Technically the RAID was still functional, but it lost the "blueprint" to the filing system, so my computer couldn't figure out where everything was at anymore. I originally took my computer down to a local computer shop to have them fix it, but it was out of their league. So I found Utah Data Recovery online and had them check out my situation. Not only were they professional and courteous, but they were able to save all my data and diagnose exactly what happened to cause the error. If you need a data recovery specialist, these are the guys to call!

Fantastic experience: Once upon a terrible time, my husbands computer came crashing down. Like, worked one second and dead the next. even though we should've learned our lesson by backing it up, we didn't.
