Negative experience: For anyone that knows me, they will tell you am a pretty straight shooter, so here is how the company was with me. Am not saying it's the same for everyone, but this is just my experience. The job itself was pretty easy, posted in Brockway,PA. Did your hourly patrols, kept notes about the activity throughout your shift, and checked in every 30 minutes. No issues at all with the job. However, no job is without its issues. Here was mine: I was asked to cover the shifts of someone who had quit, I agreed on the stipulation that they didn't cut my hours for the week. Sure enough, after the shifts were covered, they cut my hours. Go figure, right? Now I have worked for other security firms, Allied Barton and Central PA security, prior to being hired by Black Gate. Seems the contract was terminated early, so the job was lost. It happens, I get it. However, I was notified a day before my shift started, only to find out they were notified 3 days earlier, leaving me no time to find another job for that week. Now as I said before, I have worked at other security firms, and every single time, if a contract was terminated early the company always had to pay an early termination fee, to cover the wages of the employees while they searched for new jobs, was 10 days for Allied Barton and 14 days for Central PA Security. I just received my final check, nothing was added. In fact I haven't even heard from the company since the job site was canceled. The job was easy, and pretty straight forward, but the professionalism is seriously lacking. Again, this is just my experience. "You received your final check and still have not returned any of BlackGate issued uniforms or equipment! We did not even deduct any pay for the failure to return our property!" Honestly, what?! Since you brought it up, let's run down through the list! 1.) Wifi : I used my own data, since the site didn't have wifi. 2.) Flashlight : I bought my own, since the back of the site had no lighting. 3.) Uniform : I brought my own, shirt and pants, and I even told you this before I started. There was absolutely nothing given to me during my employment. You can confirm this with other members of the team.
Jesse, You were hired under temporary status for a temporary position for a short term security contract to provide security service during the sale amd closure of the client property! You were made aware of that by numerous means of communication. You were told in your interview, in your offer of employment letter we send to every new hire, as well as by the Director himself when he spoke to you regarding the position. Not one time were you advised or promised of any early termination pay! This is not something we have ever offered, especially to employees hired with the understanding the position is temporary for a short term temporary contract which is common in the security industry. Every company has different policies and procedures and do not all operate the same! So to give us a poor review after our company was very upfront and honest with you regrading the status of the temporary contract prior to hire is unfortunate. As for the communication, I personally reached out to you as soon as we were advised the contract was canceled and our team was made aware of the situation. I advised you that the contract was terminated early due to the sale of the client property which came faster than the client expected so there was no need for further security services. We were made aware, had a meeting to address the situation and advised all temporary employees in a timely manner! You received your final check and still have not returned any of BlackGate issued uniforms or equipment! We did not even deduct any pay for the failure to return our property! I personally offered you a full time position in Warren PA, however you declined this position due to it not being "a little farther than you wanted to travel." Which is understandable, however it was the only option we had available at the time. Your position was no longer needed and we unfortunately did not have another contract in your area close enough for you to be transferred into a full time employee so I am not sure what further communication was needed. What I find unprofessional is leaving us a 2 star review without any attempt to reach out to us to alleviate your situation or make us aware of your complaint! We were very open, honest, and straight forward with you throughout your employement with us, yet you couldn't afford us the same opportunity prior to leaving your review! You start off your review by saying your a straight shooter yet didn't attempt to shoot it straight with us! Not one time did you reach out and discuss your situation or ask about this termination pay that you felt so entitlted to! Not one security company pays for your phone data use and you use your phone for every company to log your patrols on our app. Your flashlight is your personal property and not issued by the company. Your uniform was issued and if you chose to purchase your own then that is on you as this is not a requirement nor an expectation. Again you were made aware of all of this prior to hire and this information is also available in our policies and procedures that you read and had access to every day of your employement. None of this was an issue until you felt entitled to extra pay that was never offered or promised prior to hire. Not one time did you reach out to anyone in our team to discuss any concerns or issue you may have had with our company.
