Municipal Tax Services: Reviews
Negative experience: 0 stars is possible , whoever is doing the “investigation “ on what car belongs to what property needs to be trained, after job training they then need customer service training
Negative experience: The company is going to assess based on where the car is parked overnight. It was parked my rental unit not a place of my abode. To the best of their knowledge (very limited knowledge) and inspections. I am double taxed by two towns (serviced by this company) therefore their process is faulty as they reach a different residence-conclusions for the same vehicle, thus contradicting their own research. Please reach out to me with similar issues for a class-action lawsuit for extortion related to unreasonable weigh of a necessary proof, work and time required to be presented for a regular working person to contest their inaccurate assessment. At the same time please participate on September 12th, 2024 at 5:30pm and 7:30pm at stamford municipal center to prevent this company to be associated with towns due to their lowest experienced quality or research and service.
Negative experience: Worst customer service ever. They don’t even know how to be a good human being. At least there should be a way to talk. You want money that’s fine but don’t be so rude have some empathy. The reason I gave one review bcz I didn’t have choice.
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars, I would. I will write my review in Spanish even though I speak and write in English because I see many comments in English and I thought I was the only one who was treated poorly and scammed. I lived in Danbury and moved to Waterbury, but my taxes from Danbury always arrive at my new address, and I always pay my car taxes on time. Well, this year I had to renew my registration and surprise, I owe 2 years of taxes to the city of Waterbury with interest. I called to inquire, and the customer service, which was a man, treated me like an animal; he spoke to me extremely poorly and told me that he doesn't care about anything and that I have to pay $500 in taxes on top of what I've already paid in Danbury for my car and that I can't do anything because they work for the city! I explained to him, and he said he didn't care that my vehicle was parked overnight at a house in Waterbury, and I explained that my brother lives there. The only reason he says I live there is that my brother and I had a clothing selling company, and since I was planning to move at that time, my brother and I decided to do it at his house. This man was super rude; he told me he has all my information, my taxes, the company, and even said I moved in 2018, which is a huge lie because my daughter was born in 2019, and her birth certificate has my address from Danbury! I never thought that paying taxes in the same state meant I had to ask for permission to park my car at my brother's house. It's a scam, and the city of Waterbury supports it 100%. Until we, the citizens, rebel against it, this company will keep scamming people! I paid $300 in Danbury for my car for those 2 years, and now I have to pay Waterbury $500 more! And according to them, I can’t do anything because they are backed by the city; they feel very powerful because they have power, power that we citizens give them while we stay silent and simply pay scammers like these! The city of Waterbury washes its hands saying they cannot do anything to help their citizens! Great… Now I realize that my life is no longer private; they can do whatever they want with my personal information because the city of Waterbury gave them total access to even have your tax declaration.
Negative experience: They are just basically instigating people and trying to rob their money
Negative experience: Untrained, rude, combative, defensive, and just awful overall. Pretty much everything you are not suppose to do in customer service. Waterbury, find a better company to work with.
Negative experience: This is the perfect example of legalized extortion. Sending out mass bills demanding unwarranted money from families for state taxes from out of state residents while ensuring the dispute/appeals process be the most difficult, essentially forcing families to take time away from work to spend all day trying to dispute, costing families even more time and money. Ends up costing less to pay off the fraudulent charges imposed by these cowards so they stop harrassing the citizens. They won’t last long
Negative experience: The staff are the most unprofessional people you will ever deal with. Extremely rude, wont explain anything, it’s basically just extortion. People have their own homes and stay at their spouses ,it’s common . It’s crazy that they can speculate and assume where u live. How can you tell me where I live. Makes no sense. They office of closed to the public . I bet it is the way you talk to people , karma is going to get these terrible people . I was refused a supervisor also refused to be given the name of ANY supervisors. Was hung up on several times because he didn’t feel like explaining the process. I will never ever pay this ,so I’m glad you wasted ur time and man hours on a bogus bill that you or Waterbury will never get
Negative experience: Don't even deserve 1 star. Dude was extremely hostile twords my husband and I. Was getting in our face scaring our 1 year old as we were trying to walk away. Was simply explaining we found the address on Google and came down to submit paper proof as my husband is deaf and can't do phone calls. This guy is nuts don't go any where near this place! Especially woman or anyone with kids. Call them instead and we got a woman on the phone who was extremely nice and super helpful.
Negative experience: Terrible company. Completely rude and comes off shady in my personal opinion. The city should go with another company than these guys, but I am sure some form of nepotism is taking place.
Negative experience: rude don’t listen tax you if you visit a family member regularly impossible to deal with class action lawsuit waiting to happen
Negative experience: Cities should not be using this agency to help with their taxes they can’t even provide you with the information you need to show proof takes weeks to get issue some what corrected. They way that’s used to determine you owe taxes is absurd god forbid you have a relationship with someone in Stamford you need to Uber or else you will get billed
Negative experience: Same as everyone else - want my husband to pay taxes for an entire year for a car that isn’t even owned by him, and wasn’t in CT for 90 days (consecutive or not). We have provided gas receipts, ezpass transaction receipts and logs, a bill of sale, registration documents, trade in documentation, service receipts, and my husbands military orders! Nothing is good enough for these people and now they won’t answer their phones when I call. We won’t be bullied into paying $1000 for a car WE DONT EVEN OWN and has since been SOLD.
Negative experience: They want me to pay taxes when i lived in another state and visited family in Connecticut. This is unbelievable i provided all the documents they asked for to show proof and they are still giving me a hard time. They even made me write them a letter explaining to them my situation. what a waste of time.
Negative experience: Poor due diligence. Double standard in burden of proof from property owner when trying to dispute property tax assessments.
Negative experience: This company is a bunch of criminals and they are rude and arrogant. They said because I was parked at my girlfriends house in Waterbury 3 times then I should pay taxes for 2 years to Waterbury. Like what?? and he’s going to tell me I don’t understand the tax laws. You observe my car overnight 3 times in 2 years and now I owe taxes to Waterbury. If I spend the night at someone’s house at least 3 times then I have to pay taxes in that town for 2 years. Then they want you to dig up the information from 5 years ago and when you send it in it’s never good enough. They said I could send in credit card bills but soon as I did oh no those aren’t sufficient proof. What is going on here how can the state of ct and the dmv allow this. I paid my taxes and my car was registered
Negative experience: The sketchiest company ever! I was charged taxes for a family member's vehicle because they were supposedly "repeatedly documented at my address" ... so family isn't allowed to visit?? Then I faxed them information showing the vehicle taxes paid in another town and they said it would take them "2 to 3 days to review" They purposely leave you waiting so you pay them just to get them off your back. Not me. They'll hear from me every single until this issue is resolved. They're the worst company, I feel harassed and stalked. I can not believe the city of Waterbury would want to be associated with this terrible company, and that says a lot!!
Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional and arrogant. They mailed the bill to the wrong address for a over a year and still wanted me to pay for interest and penalties. I have to say I'm more than a little disgusted that my tax dollars are used to hire these extortionists.
Negative experience: I would summarize their representative as unprofessional, arrogant, accusatory, and extortionist-like. Dealing with this company left me completely disgusted. Municipal Tax Services conducted a botched investigation on one of my vehicles. As a result I have received a vehicle tax bill from Waterbury. They sent me a $290 vehicle tax bill with penalties since the year 2013. I called the company and explained them my situation. They asked me for gasoline receipts from the area of my residence as a proof of the vehicle location. I told them that I do not typically keep such receipts. So he said to send them credit card statements with the gasoline purchases, and I told them that I do not typically use a credit card for gasoline purchases, because it is cheaper to buy gasoline with cash. Their rep said, well, all I hear from you is excuses. When I asked him how did they came up with taxing me for the year 2013, he said that it is per their investigation about my vehicle being reported at the Waterbury address. I told him that I did not purchase the vehicle until the end of 2014. He said to provide him a bill of sale. I told him that I do not have a bill of sale, but I have the original DMV registration paperwork. He said that he needs a bill of sale, because I could have purchased the vehicle and using it without registering it. This left me speechless, because now they additionally accused me for an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. What is wrong with these people? I said that it is not the case and that the vehicle was never at this address before the end of 2014 and I asked him about the dates that they saw it there. He said that he can't disclose the dates as the case is under investigation. Finally he said too bad, I can't help you and hang up on me. Obviously their investigation process is botched, as they did not even bothered to look up the vehicle history, and all they did is just to looked up when I purchased the house in Waterbury, then they assumed that I owned the vehicle since then, and just slammed me with a tax bill, interest, and penalties without any justification. If they did any proper investigation at all, they would have know that the vehicle was owned by someone else from Naugatuck until the end of 2014, and they would not harass me with some nonsense tax bills. I remember that I had to wait for about a week for the old title to be released by a leasing company as the previous owner had a loan on the vehicle. I have never experienced such a harassment, and am still waiting for three days for their supervisor to call me back because the conduct of their representatives is unacceptable. After calling DMV phone line, I have learned that the DMV has the bill of sale, and that I can get a copy from them. So now I have to jump through hoops, wasting my time in DMV lines, because they just slam you with tax bill and deal with it... They are not even trying to resolve the situation and just tell you, well too bad, we cant help you without gas receipts and bill of sale, you have to pay and hang up. It was the worst customer service I have ever received and what a nonsense it was to dealing with this company...
