Negative experience: When I went into this office I was treated like scum by a lady named Michelle. I couldn't believe the things she was saying to me. She even drew a circle around my face mocking the expression I had which was fear and hurt by what she was saying to me. I was so afraid of her I had to leave in the middle of the meeting. I have a note for light duty from my doctor because sometimes I have debilitating arthritis flares. Even the judge said that I shouldn't work at a food bank but she had to have her way in put me at a food bank. So I gave up and went ahead and went and took the job at the food bank and I'm standing for long periods of time I am lifting heavy boxes twisting and bending standing on my feet all the time which causes me pain. She forced me into a position that is causing me harm. I came home yesterday and my back went out and my feet were so sore I could hardly walk. I have told her this I have asked her to get me a different position and I get no calls or emails back. So I'm continuing my community service there even though I'm in severe pain every time I leave because I have to get it done before December. Maybe I did get in trouble but I'm also a human being and I don't deserve to be treated like that. I plan on filing a complaint against this worker.

Negative experience: Unprofessional and disorderly. For a almost a week Michelle wouldn’t return my messages. Today I called, no answer. I blocked my number, called back and she answered immediately! Wow.

Negative experience: Horrible. They don't answer their phone and even though they are supposed to be open on Saturday with the same hours of operation as M-F, their office was closed.

Fantastic experience: It's a court ordered experience so what can ya say? The assistant administrator out from was charming, kind and helpful. I felt welcome and encouraged for what I needed to do. The gentleman I spoke with in the back room however was not the same. He has a tough job, but seem to have been jaded by it. From his lack of friendliness to his side comments ay things that have nothing to do with why I was there, he was throughly discouraging in his manor. He may be reading off of a list of questions, but his questions seemed to lacking any abilities to find truth. In all, if you have an opportunity to request through your attorney to go to another service you should, and that man there should probably retire if he dislikes his job that much. He seemed the right age.

Negative experience: CAL is a useless and monopolistic cog in our local criminal justice system and I wouldn't be surprised if the business owners have ties to local politicians or judges. They never answer the phone or return calls. I even went down there in person on a Friday around two in the afternoon to try and make a useless court-mandated "assessment" and was unable to access their office because the elevator was turned off and it was inaccessible by stairs. I know this sounds ridiculous but I asked several people that worked in the plaza how to get to the third floor and they all said the elevator. When I pointed out that the elevator wasn't working they just shrugged their shoulders. By the way, I say their assessments are useless because I was proactive in seeking a DUI diversion program before getting into CAL and they had already given me a thorough assessment.
